Partnership with Astoria Column City Park

January 05, 2016 in art, Astoria, northwest, product design, photography

Last spring, I partnered with Astoria Column City Park to design three tote bags that are unique to their gift shop, showing the view from the highest point in Astoria.  Prior to the recent restoration in 2015, these two designs were taken from my night photos of the column.  Normally, the column looks golden on a clear night. Every October, the column is specially lit pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

I totally recommend checking out the way the mural appears now after being restored - the lines are crisp, and the values in each figure and landscape are defined.  The Astoria Column City Park on top of Coxcomb hill is funded solely by sales from the gift shop (where my tote bags are located), by parking pass sales, $1 gliders, and donations, not by the city of Astoria. So your purchase counts!

Lastly, I love the vintage viewfinders up there.  The view is really incredible from all angles, and they humbly ask only $2 to park during open hours for an entire year! Go check it out if you come around.
